Myths and Facts about Semi Permanent Makeup
Semi Permanent makeup is a very popular treatment at our Clinic, so we thought we should give you a little bit of knowledge and give answers to some questions we often get asked.
Q. I have always pencilled in my brows should I just get a regular tattooist to tattoo them in forever?
A. As your face and colouring changes the beauty of semi permanent makes it that you can alter the shape and colour to suit you still. Regular tattooist ink will change to a grey-green over time and that’s forever! Naomi uses pharmaceutical grade pigments for the face and a digital machine that is designed to be gentle.
Q. Can semi permanent makeup be done mobile?
A. Licences and insurance need to be obtained and can only be granted to qualified, skilled technicians after inspection of the premises. If someone offers to go to someone’s house this should raise alarm bells.
Q. Will Naomi draw and measure my brows to determine the shape before applying semi permanent make up?
A. Always. The brows are measured and drawn on to make sure our patients like the shape before we apply semi permanent make up. This is so important to check balance.
Q. Will Naomi choose a colour that matches my hair?
A. There are many factors involved in choosing a pigment colour for brows. Skin tone, natural brow colour and hair colour are but a few. Naomi will also ask how natural the patient would like them and as the treatment involves two procedures she can add more colour gradually.
Myths & Facts:
MYTH – “I will need to have my eyebrows shaved”
FACT – Naomi works with any existing brow hairs the patient has, to keep grooming maintenance at a minimum for you. Any hairs that do not complement the new shape of the brow are tweezed away. We will never shave your brows off.
MYTH – “It is a painful treatment”
FACT – Most people describe the feeling as similar to having their brows tweezed or waxed. Numbing cream is applied and can be reapplied throughout the treatment if needed.
MYTH – All brow shapes are the same for every client.
FACT – By drawing and measuring on the brow before treatment we can make a brow perfect for your face shape and taste. One size does not fit all in this case! Rest assured your brows will be yours alone.
MYTH – “My brows will be scabby when healing”
FACT – With natural hair stroke brows, they will be slightly dry for a few days and as they heal the dry skin will flake. If they are very scabby the skin has been over worked and you will get less colour retention.
MYTH – “My brows will go red as they fade”
FACT – This is avoidable. Having a specialist proficient in colour theory help you select a colour will save on costly correction procedures at a later date.
MYTH – By going deeper in the skin it will last longer
FACT – By going too deep into the skin the hair strikes will bleed together and blur. This will result in hair strokes that are not clear and crisp or natural looking. By going 1.5mm only into the skin Naomi can create long lasting natural hair strokes that look real.
