Wheeler Clinic is offering two free Laughter Yoga sessions during the month of December. Laughter Yoga was developed in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria as a way of obtaining the many health benefits of laughing without relying of humor, jokes or comedy. Studies show that laughter lowers stress levels and blood pressure, strengthens the immune system, and releases endorphins. Laughter yoga generates laughter through a series of laughter exercises and is based on the scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between “generated” and “real” laughter. All Laughter Yoga sessions will be led by Judith Stonger, MA, CPS, CARAC, vice president of Prevention, Wellness & Recovery, Wheeler Clinic. Laughter Yoga Sessions on tap include: Relieve Your Holiday Stress Try Laughter Yoga – Wednesday, December 7 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at the Southington Public Library and Laughter Yoga.
