Lifestyles were weak across the board again this year. White goods and outdoor goods performed poorly again off a weak base from the prior year. The discount brands have also had a poor like-for-like week. There has been some small growth in the small ticket gifting & high end retailers but these have been offset overall by the decline in the white and outdoor goods sales.
Fashion sales have had a poor week with sales down 6.61% on this time last year. Sales across the board are down with no particular sub-sector standing out. High-street and shopping centre footfall is the main contributor to this as they are both down on this time last year.
It has been a good week for homeware however it is un-remarkable when compared to last years growth. All contributors are in positive territory with large ticket items and household decorative items performing particularly well. The increased footfall at retail parks compared to this week last year is being sighted as a key factor in the performance of homeware.
Like for like non-store sales have grow again this week however the growth has been less remarkable than this time a year ago. There has been growth across the fashion and homeware contributors as well as the small ticket gifting retailers; however this has been offset by struggling household and outdoor goods sales.
