Aamir Khan is born on 14 March 1965 in Bombay. The complete name of Aamir Khan is Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan and he is an Indian actor, filmmaker and television talk-show host. Aamir has a career of more than thirty years and is one of the most popular and influential actors of Indian cinema.

Aamir Khan’s parents are Tahir Hussain, film producer, and Zeenat Hussain. He has three siblings being the eldest one, he has a brother, Faisal Khan, and two sisters, Farhat and Nikhat Khan. Amir Khan has several relatives in the film industry, starting with his father, film producer, and his brother, actor. Other of his relatives that are working in the film industry is the paternal uncle, the producer-director Nasir Hussain. Aamir, through his grandmother, is also related with the the Indian Islamic scholar, philosopher and politician Abul Kalam Azad.
Aamir’s childhood was not an easy one, he described it as “tough” due to financial problems of his family arisen by the fact that majority of his father’s productions were unsuccessful. Aamir attended J.B. Petit School, St. Anne’s High School in Bandra and Bombay Scottish School in Mahim. During school years, Aamir excelled in tennis sport, becoming a state-level champion.
Aamir’s first appearances in films were in his childhood at age of eight. Aamir played minor roles in two films: “Yaadon Ki Baaraat” (1973) directed by his paternal uncle, Nasir Hussain, and “Madhosh” (1974) directed by his father, Tahir Hussain. Even, he had these roles in the childhood, Aamir’s parents did not want for him a film career preferring for their son an engineer or a doctor career. That it was the reason for which he hidden to his parents the acting in “Paranoia”. “Paranoia” was an experimental process of making a 40-minute silent film in which Aamir played at the age of sixteen. This experience made him to decide to pursue a career in film the industry. After “Paranoia” experience, Aamir joined a theatre group called Avantar for one year.
After Aamir completed the high school, he decided to work as assistant director for Nasir Hussain on the Hindi films Manzil Manzil (1984) and Zabardast (1985). During his job as assistant, he also acted in documentaries directed by the students of FTII, Pune.
Aamir first debut in the film industry was in 1984 in the film “Holi”, a film that have not received good reviews and did not become a box-office hit. In 1988, Aamir played in “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”, a film that was directed by Nasir Hussain with his son and became a commercial success. “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” received seven Filmfare Awards, from which one was an award for Aamir, “Best Male Debut”.
Aamir became famous as actor due his films released in 1990’s. Most of his films released in that period were successful films like “Dil” (1990), “Raja Hindustani” (1996), “Sarfarosh” (1999).
During 2001- 2005, Aamir, due to the divorce from his wife Reena Dutta, took a break from his activity. Starting with 2005, Aamir is back in activity and up to now won several awards.
As film producer and director, Aamir started his career in 1999 when he launched his own production company, named “Aamir Khan Productions”. In 2001, Aamir released his first production “Lagaan” that was a commercial success with numerous nominations and awards. In 2007, Aamir is releasing the film produced and directed (in premier) by himself “Taare Zameen Par”. Aamir’s successful production was the film “Dangal” (2016), having him in the lead role also. “Dangal” film was declared the highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Besides film industry activities, Aamir made a career also as television host. In May 2012, he started his debut talk show, “Satyamev Jayate”, a talk show similar to “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. His show became one of the highest paid host in Indian television industry.
In the daily life, Aamir continues to love tennis sport and he is admiring the tennis player Roger Federer.
In the personal life, Aamir has been married twice. First marriage was with Reena Dutta and lasted from 18 April 1986 until December 2002. They had two children, a son, Junaid, and a daughter, Ira, and both of them are in their mother’s custody now. After the divorce, Aamir and Reena continued to have a friendship relation in cordial terms, “Yes, it’s very modern. She is a wonderful person. Sometimes a relationship doesn’t work but I have a lot of love and respect for her. In fact, we are working together on this Paani Project. She is the CEO of the company.”.
On 28 December 2005, Aamir married Kiran Rao, an Indian film producer. They have met on the sets of “Lagoon”. On 5 December 2011, they announced the birth of their son, Azad Rao Khan, through a surrogate mother.
Aamir and Kiran are living in Bandra, a Mumbai suburb.
