Colorado Springs, Colo. – Oct. 29, 2014 – Today Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) announces Dr. Patricia Diawara will take on the role of Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Joseph Southcott will serve as Associate Dean for Math and English – College Prep Programs.
Previously serving as the Director of Institutional Research, Diawara will now be responsible for providing leadership, administrative oversight and coordination for the assessment, evaluation, accreditation and institutional research functions of the college. She will coordinate and monitor the implementation of a college-wide program of institutional effectiveness designed to: advance PPCC’s strategic objectives and focus goals; fulfill regional and specialized accreditation requirements; ensure the continuous improvement of all programs and services; and promote a culture of evidence-based decision making.
Diawara has taught at the college level and held positions as a project coordinator and senior scientist at a research lab in France. Most recently she was the Director of Institutional Research at Pueblo Community College and here at PPCC.
She holds a master’s in Organic Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Wood Science from University of Nancy, France and holds a master’s of Business Administration from Colorado State University Pueblo.
Southcott will assist the Dean of Math and English in providing leadership in and management of division operations and is responsible for all developmental education courses in mathematics, English and study skills. He will supervise four departments; Advancing Academic Achievement, College Composition and Reading, College Prep Math and English as a Second Language. These departments provide college prep courses to assure PPCC students are prepared to begin their college level course of study.
He has been an adjunct Math instructor at PPCC since 2007 and during this time he was Deputy Director of Operations then Command Center Director for NORAD and USNORTHCOM. Prior to this he held various military jobs spanning nearly thirty years.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Science, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY; a Master of Science in Operations Research, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA; and a Master of Military Art and Science, Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS.
