If you’re considering a perioperative nursing career — whether you’ve already embarked on a surgical center career, you’re an experienced nurse looking to change specialties, or you’re a new nurse intent on a career in perioperative nursing — bear this in mind: Where you work matters, not only to your overall job satisfaction, but also to your ability to provide the top-notch care your patients deserve.
Yes, salary, benefits, and working atmosphere contribute to successful, satisfying perioperative nursing careers; but so does the opportunity to positively impact and safeguard the lives of the patients under your care.
It’s no secret that high-performing healthcare organizations produce high-quality clinical outcomes. New research, published in December 2016, contributes to a long list of studies that confirm striking differences between outcomes in high- and low-performing hospitals. The in-depth analysis found, for example, the incidence of post-operative sepsis to be three times more likely in low-performing hospitals than in high-performing ones.
High-performing hospitals also promote high-performing nursing careers. Healthcare leaders like Eisenhower Medical Center offer perioperative nurses greater opportunities to employ evidence-based practice standards, collaborate on quality initiatives, and exercise judgment and discretion to ensure patient satisfaction and optimal outcomes.
Your choice of employer can make all the difference in achieving a long, fulfilling, and impactful perioperative nursing career. Here are a few reasons why a position at Eisenhower Medical Center can help you reach that goal:
Award-Winning Clinical Care
At Eisenhower Medical Center, our commitment to providing the highest-quality healthcare services lies at the center of all we do. Our level of superior care in surgical services and other clinical areas has been recognized by a variety of healthcare industry heavyweights. A few of our recent honors include:
HealthGrades® ranked Eisenhower Medical Center among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and spine surgery. The organization also honored our cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, coronary intervention, and gastrointestinal care programs with awards of excellence.
Becker’s Hospital Review listed Eisenhower Medical Center’s Orthopedic Center of Excellence programs, including total joint replacement and spine surgery, as among the nation’s Top 100 Orthopedic Programs. The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recognized our facilities among the 20% of hospitals nationwide to earn four stars in its Overall Hospital Quality and Star Rating program.

Pioneering Technology
Innovation is second nature to us at Eisenhower Medical Center. We were the first facility in the Palm Springs area to employ minimally invasive, hand-assisted laparoscopic techniques in a variety of gastrointestinal and abdominal procedures. Ours was also the first facility in Riverside County to offer transcatheter aortic heart valve procedure as an alternative to open-heart surgery. Among facilities in the area we pioneered use of robotics for a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures, from general surgery to gynecology, prostate, gastrointestinal, bariatric, kidney, and thoracic procedures, with the da Vinci® HD Surgical System.
Nursing Excellence
Eisenhower Medical Center’s longstanding commitment to excellence in nursing practice was recognized in 2015 with the prestigious Magnet® designation, considered the gold standard of nursing care. We remain the only healthcare organization in the Palm Springs area to achieve the distinction.
Magnet recognition validates our strong support for advancing the standards of nursing practice and quality initiatives. It demonstrates our respect for nurses across our organization and our dedication to advancing their professional development.
We support life-long learning for our nursing team members. Perioperative nurses at Eisenhower Medical Center can take advantage of our Nursing Education Program, monthly Nursing Grand Rounds series, workshops, conferences, and independent continuing education study. Generous tuition reimbursement is available to nurses enrolled in degree programs.

Only 20 hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout the country earned the award last year.
