Muddles, I have exactly the same in my boot. Huge plastic contraption for holding compressor and towing eye (thanks - I hadn't worked out what that was until you said it!). I agree, plastic contraption looks like it should hold things but there's nothing there. My compressor has two pipes coming off it. I did wonder if one was for air and the other, perhaps for delivering foam. I will ask at my dealers.
