cPanel and WHM is generally tried and tested for compatibility with most browsers. Due to different configuration, cPanel and WHM on a browser may be displayed differently from the supposed general look.
As listed by cPanel documentation FAQ, below are the compatible browsers of cPanel and WHM:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and 9
Mozilla Firefox 12 and above
Google Chrome 20 and above
The following browsers provide limited compatibility with cPanel and WHM thus resulting in minor defects or inconveniences:
Safari for iPad
Safari 5.1 and above
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and 7
Opera 12
Windows run on all Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome; Mac runs on Firefox, Chrome and Safari; while Linux runs on Firefox and Chrome.
Users can also access the mobile versions of cPanel and WHM on Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers.
However, please note that cPanel and WHM is dedicated to continually improving its features. As such, it only supports the latest versions of the Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Mobile Chrome, and Mobile Safari. Existing users of old browsers can still be used; however, cPanel Support will no longer address issues or concerns related to these old browsers.
As such, the cPanel team encourages users to upgrade their browsers to the latest versions. While users get the advantage of receiving exciting and more secure new updates, they can also be assured of extensive support and targeted changes from the cPanel Team.
When you are using BlackBerry browser for instance, or an Opera Mobile for Symbian, you are likely to see a warning message showing a “certificate mismatch.” Note also that some applications may not be compatible with your browser.
Take for an example, AJAX. Ajax is a script that serves as the communication bridge between a server and database without the need of reloading or refreshing the complete page. AJAX script is already integrated in the cPanel admin. AJAX is useful for functions such as auto-complete, form submission and validation, as well as external widgets.
However, if you are using Safari mobile or Opera, you may likely encounter an error in your email account section stating a failure and prompting you to refresh the page and try again. This means that your browser is not compatible with the installed AJAX. To address this issue, simply follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Go to the Safari browser cache and clear it from the beginning of time.
STEP 2: Navigate to the bottom of the email accounts page in cPanel.
STEP 3: Click the link “If you need an interface that uses less Javascript, click here.”
This will manage your email accounts in Safari without the AJAX errors.
It is then advisable for you to upgrade your Safari to the newest version. This will allow Javascript to work properly. For an easier approach, simply switch to a different browser such as Chrome or Firefox.
