The Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer has generated a lot of buzz before and during its filming. The untitled project received a lot of speculations on its name. Initially, rumours were abuzz that the film has been titled The Ring, only to be replaced by Rehnuma. Well, turns out it’s neither.
Talking to a leading daily, the Jab We Met director Imtiaz Ali made it absolutely clear that the both names are media created or rumours. “It is neither. At least that I can say. It cannot be either of the two,” said the filmmaker when asked to address the confusion between the two names.
Even while the name of the film is not finalized, the film has got its domestic and overseas distributor. And it’s not a surprise that it happened considering the hype around it. But what is indeed shocking is the amount for which the deal has been sealed.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the distribution rights of the movie have been sold for a whopping amount of more than Rs 100 crore!! Yes you read that right.
Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz has acquired the domestic and overseas distribution rights of the upcoming project reportedly. The report suggests that the deal is finalised at approximately Rs 125 crore.
Talking to the online portal, Hirawat confirmed the news of him acquiring the distribution rights of the movie but he refrained from commenting on the exact value of the deal. “Yes I have acquired the All India and overseas distribution rights of The Ring, but I will not comment on the cost of the same,” said Hirawat.
The film is a different take of Ali on modern day romances. “For me, I didn’t want to fall into a pattern of the certain type of film. And he (Shah Rukh) wanted to break out of the pattern that he was in. That’s the reason why we got to work,” said Imtiaz.
This is the third film where SRK and Anushka will be paired together after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
