Our latest case study focuses on Central Kids Early Education, which has been providing high quality, accessible and affordable early childhood education and care for 35 years. Staff communicate with whānau (parents and family) using Info-Txt, an integrated text messaging facility from Infocare Systems with technology from Bulletin (part of the MessageMedia Group).

Central Kids Early Education has been providing high quality, accessible and affordable early childhood education and care for 35 years. It operates 48 kindergartens and 8 full-day care centres between Whitianga in the north, Taumarunui in the south and Ōpōtiki in the east, with head office is centrally located in Putaruru.

Central Kids Kindergartens and Early Learning Centres are safe, fun learning environments where children interact with other children, adults, teachers, the environment and high quality resources, learning new skills in readiness for the next step in their education – school.  Central Kids’ mission is to prepare children for this important transition.

An important part of this is communicating effectively with whānau (parents and family) using Info-Txt, an integrated text messaging facility from Infocare Systems using technology from Bulletin (part of the MessageMedia Group).

Engagement with and responses from whānau have improved significantly since Info-Txt was introduced.

For Central Kids, proof of the system’s success is the feedback from parents, with comments such as: ‘I feel more connected with the kindergarten and my child knowing they can message me at any time’, ‘The reminders are invaluable’, ‘Quick and easy, love it’, and ‘I’m able to reply straight away’.

Using such a simple system has reduced workloads, especially the administrative burden for staff generating emails or letters to parents, or chasing up responses. Staff are not required to make time-consuming phone calls to parents that may or may not be received or returned. A text ‘says it all’ and parents know why they are contacted when they receive them.

Other benefits have included efficient group communication, Instant communication, records of communication, affordability, reliability and ease of use.
