College Choice, an online resource for prospective higher education students, lists Brenau University Women’s College No. 11 in its 2016 national women’s college rankings.

Brenau University Women’s College ranks No. 2 in the Southern region, which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

College Choice ranked Brenau University Women’s College higher than all other women’s colleges in Georgia: Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Spelman College in Atlanta and Wesleyan College in Macon.

Brenau President Ed Schrader said that the distinction recognizes the unique assets of Brenau University Women’s College, including top-ranked fine arts and performing arts programs, residential national sororities and a nationally competitive intercollegiate athletics program with 10 NAIA-recognized sports, junior varsity teams in basketball and softball and three different cheer squads.

“The Women’s College remains the heart and soul of Brenau University, and these latest rankings reflect our commitment to maintaining the rich, liberal arts tradition that began 138 years ago,” Schrader said. “The quality of our Women’s College program, and the undergraduate experiences it provides, is certainly one of the finest in the nation.”

Schrader said that another extremely significant feature of the Women’s College is that it forms the core of a coeducational, comprehensive university offering, among other programs, the second largest MBA program in Georgia and three doctorates and many other master’s degree programs in health sciences.

In a separate ranking, College Choice places Brenau University, which includes the Women’s College, No. 24 among all comprehensive universities in the 12-state Southern region. Brenau is the No. 2 ranked university in Georgia on that list.

College Choice criteria, which is culled from sources like U.S. News & World Report and the National Center for Education Statistics, includes academic reputation, financial aid offerings, overall cost and the success of graduates in the post-college job market.
