The 2016 AWS Summit Mumbai ended on an extremely high note for startups, AWS partners, AWS resellers, and participants. Botmetric, at Booth S8, got a tremendous response and our team had fun interacting with various AWS patrons.

This action-packed one-day summit covered 36 technical sessions on various topics. There were stellar keynotes from Andy Jassy, CEO, AWS, and Mike Clayville, VP, Worldwide Commercial Sales and Business Development, AWS. Devendra Fadnavis, Honorable Chief Minister, Maharashtra, who was the guest speaker gave an encouraging speech on how India is transforming as an epicenter of digital revolution and how AWS can continue to provide great impetus to this end.

Here are the highlights we recorded:

Highlight #1: AWS Announces New Asia Pacific Region — Mumbai

One of the key highlights of the summit was Andy Jassy unveiling the immediate availability of the India Region in Mumbai. Many anticipate that this will further give the right thrust to the burgeoning start-up culture in India.

Jassy, after spilling the beans, wholeheartedly said that Mumbai is now the 6th AWS Region in Asia Pacific. This announcement brings AWS’ global footprint of regions to thirteen. Above all, the best of latency will soon be a reality for all the enterprises who are on AWS.

According to sources, the new Mumbai region supports various AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, Redshift, Route 53, and more. Similar to other AWS regions, the new AWS Mumbai Region also consists of two separate Availability Zones (AZs). To catch up more on this announcement, read the blog by Jeff Barr.

At the summit, Andy Jassy also urged the enterprises to innovate technology around the customer. He emphasized that enterprises should develop a culture that will enable and motivate builders in areas where leaders generally leaders try their hardest to say ‘Yes.’

Mike Clayville also gave an enthralling keynote describing the several patterns of innovation among AWS customers, thereby further enticing the AWS crowd.

Highlight #2: Roll-up Your Sleeves Indian Startups for Customer-Centric Innovations

Addressing the zealous crowd, Andy Jassy mentioned in his keynote that the new region will help many startups leapfrog into mainstream business at an accelerated pace. Further acknowledging Maharashtra CM’s support to this end, Jassy added that the new region will enable the thriving ecosystem of new startups as well as commercial & government enterprises.

With many Indian startups and enterprises already using AWS for many years, the new regional footprint is a welcome step towards building great technology partnerships and building customer-centric solutions.

The emerging startup Ola Cabs, for instance, has already piloted the new AWS region in Mumbai. On this note, Ankit Bhati, Co-Founder & CTO, Ola Cabs, who was part of the speaker panel spoke how AWS helped the company reimagine mobility for India with higher performance.

More than that, low latency is now a reality for Indian AWS customers, including startups focused on building their entire businesses on AWS and numerous big enterprises running mission-critical, core applications on AWS.

According to Amazon, over 75,000 India-based customers are already using other AWS Regions. Plus, the number of partners joining the APN program has grown more than 80 percent in the past twelve months.

Highlight #3:Fun-Times with the AWS Crowd

It was an over the moon experience for our team @ Booth S8. Live demo session on Botmetric attracted some serious AWS crowd. The same serious yet fun-loving crowd went on to enjoy some fun booth contests too. Many were happy about the goodies they received too.

To conclude:

Our team witnessed some of the most insightful keynote sessions and tech talks by AWS thought leaders and startup gurus.

Close on the heels of the event, AWS acknowledged the support from all its AWS Premier Consulting Partners. And we’re happy to announce that Minjar Cloud Solutions Pvt Ltd., is one among them.
