A ghoul is seen by many as a failed attempt to create a vampire, but a more accurate description would be as a vampire's shock trooper or personal servant. Where a true vampire mantains a will free from the entity that turned them, a ghoul does not. Also unlike a vampire, blood does not rejuvenate them. Instead, sucking blood only slows the process of decay. The blood they collect is often used by the vampire that created them. Not being able to feel pain, a ghoul is a significant threat in a fight, but they are not invincible. Their bodies are usually in as least some stage of disrepair, and each day that decay will compound further. The upper limits of how long a ghoul can survive are unknown, but keeping one from feeding results in decay rates similar to a normal human corpse.
