So many women believe that they’re not worthy of a good life, love, respect and happiness. They think that this kind of life belongs to the select few, and definitely not to them.

They say, “You either have it or you don’t.” It’s like being an heiress – you’re either born into wealth, or you’re not, right?

Not necessarily. And that’s where The Heiress Project steps in, and revolutionizes not only this traditional view of “heiress”, but also challenges your negative concepts about yourself and your life.

This book sets out to show that you’re an heiress – not because your wealthy, but because you already have something that no other woman has:

Your life, full of your unique qualities, characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. This life is your abundance, but only if you see it that way.

And this guidebook shows you how to do just that.

In The Heiress Project, you’ll learn how to:

• Love who you are

• Overcome 27 + fears

• Overcome perfectionism, insecurity and inferiority

• Discover your beliefs, values and opinions, and learn to make decisions that align with them

• Speak your truth and live authentically

• Develop meaningful relationships

This is not about entitlement, because nothing is handed to you. Instead, you embrace your life and make it true and authentic.

You won’t need to wait for others to love you, or to make your life better, because you’ll love yourself from the inside out.

It’s not a guidebook for quick fixes, but it’s every girl’s guide to beginning a journey toward wholeness, worthiness, and loving yourself like crazy.

Targeted Age Group:: 20-30

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?

While I was recovering from anorexia and depression, I was given a list of rights called, "The Personal Bill of Rights". They were empowering, inspiring and motivating, and gently pushed and pulled me toward recovery. I wanted to continue exploring them and the result was this book. In grappling with those rights, I came to realize that fear is the #1 reason why I (and countless other women) didn't believe that I could have a good life, free of limiting beliefs and destructive mindsets. I wanted women to know how to create a good life, too; how to overcome fear and reclaim their worthiness from fear, and before I knew it, "The Heiress Project" was born!

Once upon a time, I took ballet lessons at a local dance studio. After all these years, one class stands out to me more than any other. In this fateful class, we were all busy learning the dance for our annual recital. There we were, in two long lines, facing the mirror. I can still see myself, standing in the front line, while the teacher taught us the new part: the front line would move to the back and the back line would move to the front. The steps were simple: two balancés. I knew how to balancé, but I couldn’t get this new part. I struggled to wrap my head around it, and for the remainder of the class, I felt like a pressure cooker. Finally, at the end of class, I rushed to my mom, threw myself into her arms, and literally burst into tears.

I was 7.

Now, you might be asking yourself what a little ballerina could be so overwhelmed about? My classmates were fun and easy-going, the teachers were anything but strict disciplinarians, and the show wasn’t for another five months. Nonetheless, I was completely overwhelmed and distraught. So, my mom helped me learn the new part, and the following week, when the time came for me to move from that front line to the back, I did it perfectly.

Problem solved? No, not really. In fact, the problem ran much deeper: I looked at the little things that made up life as though they were formidable challenges and roadblocks. What’s worse, I looked at myself as someone unworthy and incompetent to handle them. Yes, even at 7 years old. Unfortunately, my fears followed me for the rest of my life, and that same, scared ballerina kept showing up again and again. Even many years later, as a full-fledged adult, I found myself in similar scenarios. Although I wasn’t dancing anymore, I was still stuck in that front line, unable to move. Usually, I never realized fear was controlling me, so I kicked and screamed inside, until I eventually and inevitably burst. I’ll never forget my boyfriend’s words as he watched me freak out in my little, ballerina style: “There you go again, getting scared and afraid, as always.” And while it might seem like a harsh thing to say, it actually was exactly what I needed to hear. It was like someone shaking me out of a bad dream, or like a splash of cold

water across my face. Yes, there I was again: Afraid and getting stuck, for the millionth time.

Finally, after over 25 years of scared living, I decided that I was sick and tired of making decisions out of fear instead of freedom. And when I realized how terribly afraid I was, I began to see just how rampant fear was in women everywhere. There are so many women (including you) who live a fear-based life. We have so much going for us, but fear keeps us locked in one place, when instead, we could be claiming a magnificent life.

This book was born out of my resolution to live fearlessly, and the keyword here is “resolution”, because fear has deep roots that entangle all of our thinking and therefore, control most, if not all, of our actions. It takes a long time and lots of effort to uproot fear, and in writing The Heiress Project, I came to realize just how strong fear was in me. It made me realize that to counteract the strength of fear, I had to be that much stronger. Perhaps as you read this book, you’ll realize that fear has a very powerful grip in your own life, too. But instead of becoming overwhelmed like that little ballerina, you can fortify yourself with the belief that you can free yourself of fear. This book is your guide to do just that.

At this point, you might be wondering why a book about fear should be called The Heiress Project. Doesn’t “heiress” go hand in hand with Paris Hilton and those girls who just get handed a ton of easy wealth? Well, yes, that’s one way to look at an heiress, and because of this, I did have some doubts about using a word with such strong, negative connotations. However, I decided that an heiress needn’t be a millionaire per se, and furthermore, this word doesn’t belong to Paris Hilton any more than it belongs to you. In fact, Paris Hilton would still be an heiress without her fortune. That’s because I’ve redefined heiress, and I’m so excited to share with you what that means, and how it’s related to your fear. This book isn’t about glittery eyeshadows and hair extensions – not that either of those things are bad. It’s just not what this book is about. Furthermore, this new heiress has nothing to do with monetary wealth and has everything to do with an abundance of love. In fact, the heiress I’m talking about isn’t handed anything; she holds and creates love from within. And to do so takes a lot of work! But this heiress loves her life, and knows that her happiness and wellbeing are worth her efforts.

While The Heiress Project isn’t difficult to read, it might be difficult to accept what you’re reading: that you’re an heiress and what’s more, that you’re essentially a very scared and fearful woman. But please don’t beat yourself up about this. There’s no more time for that. It’s time to make room for love and compassion.

As you read this book, you might need to take time when needed. You might need time to understand yourself; time to be compassionate with yourself and most importantly,

time to heal yourself. From one heart to another, I can say that I also needed time to heal while writing this book. Don’t worry if you need to do the same. In fact, give healing a very important place in your heiress project because once fear is out of the way, you will finally have room for you and the life you’re meant to create and love.

In the section, “An Exploration of the 27 Rights”, you’ll find the opportunity to reflect on each of the 27 rights. You’ll be able to journal about them and engage with them at your own pace. As you read The Heiress Project, you can focus on the areas that speak strongly to you. Listen to your heart; as an up-and-coming heiress, she knows what you need to do to break free.
