(WANE) - After starting his college basketball career at Wisconsin, former Highlight Zone star Connor Essegian is staying in the Big Ten by transferring to Nebraska.

The Central Noble High School grad announced his new destination on social media on Sunday.

Essegian hit the ground running with the Badgers in his freshman season. The 6-foot-4-inch guard was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team after averaging 11.7 points on 40.4% shooting and 35.9% from 3-point range. Essegian also set the program record for most 3-pointers made by a freshman with 69.

In his sophomore season, Essegian’s playing time dipped due to several factors, including injuries and the emergence of other players in Wisconsin’s lineup. The guard only played an average of 7.4 minutes per game, down from 27.3 in his freshman season.

Essegian has two years of college eligibility remaining.
