Xero continues to cement itself as a leader in cloud accounting software, garnering praise from technology and industry reviewers alike.
Coming off the back of PC Magazine awarding Xero an editor rating of “excellent”, Merchant Maverick recently ranked Xero the number one accounting software with a five-star review.
Reviewer Katherine Miller agrees that Xero truly is beautiful accounting software.
“With clean, generally intuitive interfaces, Xero is an excellent solution for many small businesses’ accounting needs, offering a wealth of features while providing more simplicity and automatic invoicing options than most locally installed programs,” Katherine says.
With more than 1,400 features and updates shipped in the last 12 months, Xero leads the pack when it comes to innovation. Katherine says these updates, which are generally developed by user request, put Xero at the forefront.
“Xero was an early entrant in the rapidly growing field of cloud-based accounting, and the company’s developers work hard to stay ahead of the curve with product updates every 3-6 weeks,” Katherine says.
Well-organized and intuitive
With more than 700,000 Xero customers, Katherine says the community of Xero users find the software extremely intuitive in layout and design.
“Several people call the software ‘fun’ and say that it has taken the pain out of accounting,” Katherine says.
“Some say it strikes the perfect balance between ease of use for business owners and functionality for accountants.”
Xero’s Dashboard gives small business owners real-time oversight of their cashflow. Users’ bank balances, invoices, bills and expense claims live in one place. Katherine says this aggregation is effortless.
“[Xero’s Dashboard is] extremely well-organized; [it’s] easy to take in the important information at a glance,” Katherine says.
A small business champion
Katherine says Xero saves small business owners time in more ways than one.
“Xero has a number of features which customers praise as time savers, including automatic bank feeds, bill tracking, invoicing, and options for group invoices,” Katherine says.
She dove deeper on expense reports, calling them a “well executed time saver”.
“Employees can enter their expense reports and receipts into the system (settings allow you to confine each employee’s view to the data they have entered),” Katherine says.
“You can then review and approve employee expenses and receipts; it’s easy to see when there are new reports awaiting your approval.”
The security of customer data is Xero’s number one priority. Katherine says there are few competitors that match Xero’s level of security.
“All user data is SSL encrypted, and servers are protected from both electronic and physical access by any unauthorized personnel. Xero also provides support for two-factor authentication and undergoes routine third-party security audits and penetrative testing.”
Xero Americas CMO, Paul Miller, commented on this acclaim saying: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive such a glowing accolade from Merchant Maverick. Xero and Merchant Maverick both delight in giving small business owners the tools they need to thrive, and to receive this validation is proof we’re continuing to execute on our vision of being the most innovative and beautifully designed cloud accounting platform,” Paul said.
“Merchant Maverick’s praise for the Xero platform reinforces just how much innovation we have delivered for accountants, bookkeepers and small businesses around the world.
“The Xero team has shipped more than 1,400 product features and updates in the past 12 months. We’re continuously iterating on our platform to ensure our customers can leverage the latest cloud and data technology available.”
