VIFF has expanded the frame this year to include a wide range of events some of which are completely FREE! Meet cast members, catch up with your favourite TV show and hang out at VIFF Hub:



Milton’s Secret Creator Talk: Bullying: 1:00 pm October 1

Based on the book and teachings by Eckhart Tolle, Milton’s Secret makes its World Premiere at VIFF on September 30. But that’s not all, the cast returns the following day for a special complimentary Creator Talk. Meet the cast of the debut film as they take the stage to talk about coping with bullying using Tolle’s mindfulness teachings. Director Barnet Bain will join cast members Mia Kirshner, David Sutcliffe and William Ainscough to discuss this subject.



X-Files Marathon: 9:00 pm October 7

The truth is out there: everyone’s favourite sci-fi duo are back! With the revival of the hit show X-Files earlier this year Mulder and Scully returned and VIFF wants to keep them around a little bit longer. We’re  hosting an X-Files marathon, screening six back-to-back episodes of the latest season for fans to enjoy.



Late Night @ #VIFF Hub: 10:00 pm – 1:00 am September 20 – October 8

After a full day of films head on over to VIFF Hub to hang out with fellow festival-goers and enjoy an array of local musical guests. Entry to the Vancity Theatre atrium is FREE for everyone, every night. But TWO of these events are completely FREE!

LOVE @ VIFF Hub:  10:00 pm October 5

Vancouver’s Fox Cabaret’s uber popular weekly dance party, LOVE comes to VIFF Hub featuring DJ’s Trevor Risk and Christa Belle. With hits from the 80s and 90s cult classics, audiences will get down to the greatest indie, pop, alternative and dance music from one of film’s most beloved genres.

Skate/Ski/Ride After Party: 10:00 pm October 8

After adrenaline filled films from filmmakers who dare to go further and document it all, hang out at the VIFF Hub with music by Dunks of Vancouver-based Funk Hunters and special guests. Originally from Galiano Island, Dunks is a DJ who plays electronic music including hip-hop, house, funk, D&B, downtempo, disco and boogie. He recently formed the project Lazy Syrup Orchestra, which has performed at Bass Coast and Shambhala. Dunks is also one-half of the Funk Hunters.
