But it figures. Incredibly passionate about nail art, she pushes herself towards impeccable designs, from bling to marble to geometric. “I’m just someone who loves to make all kinds of design for your nails”, she puts it simply. How did you start working as a nail artist?
It was passion for Nail Art. Seeing the nail arts displays in the salon made me wonder how to do this art, and slowly I started to pick it up from there. It was like 2 years ago.

How did you learn the trade?
Initially I just did the art by myself, without any guides . Then I started to think and wonder: ‘am I taking the right steps?’. So I started to look for nail academies and joined Pinkroom to learn all the foundation I need for nails care and extension.

What is your daily routine as a beauty artist? Do you have a certain profile of clients?

I constantly update myself with the latest trends and latest techniques of nail art. And I have all kind of customer profiles:there are some in love with super bling nails, simple designs for OL and there are also those who love cute designs, like polka dots or disney characters.

You got 1st prize at a gel extension Pinkroom competition. How did you feel winning it? It was a French Gel Extension.  At that time, I was a student at Pinkroom and, because there were many better results students out there competing, I only hoped to get into the Top 3. But I never expected a 1ST PRIZE for me! I was very surprised, and it also made me more confident that I’m in the right career path.

Where do you get inspiration for your designs? Do you have a favorite style?

Sometimes I get inspiration from other manicurists’ nail art, mostly Japanese and Taiwanese. Otherwise, I’ll just make myself relax in my comfort zone and do some new nail arts that others have not come up with. I don’t have any favourite style:I guess all nail arts I’ve done are already my style! And because you cannot copy style, so no matter how you do it the outcome is always your own way.

Have you ever had an extreme design request?
I have customers who always want all kinds of designs to be put all on 10 fingers, even though sometimes they won’t match. But I don’t mind doing it for them, as they are the ones facing their nails all day! So they have the right to choose what they want.

Why do you think nails so important to Singaporean ladies?

Nails now not only represents your personal hygiene, but they are a lady’s style. And they also beautify their day.

Why do you like them so much?

I loves making nail art for my ladies. Sometimes they come in with tired faces, but I always see them leaving with satisfied faces after they see the design. That’s my greatest satisfaction and appreciation in my career. I’m just someone who loves to make all kinds of design for your nails.
