Gamers, celebrate; the wait is over! Patreon just leveled up (aka, got a big booty boost) by officially launching our integration with Discord, a free, all-in-one voice and text chat service, loved by gamers worldwide.

Since Discord announced our coming partnership, we’ve see an outpour of excitement that looks a bit like this:

Dear @allofyouthattweetedus, today is the day!

It’s no secret that us Patreon folk love our gaming community (we’re quite the gamers ourselves). We’ve been hyper-focusing on ways to make Patreon a home for gamers, and when we saw how many creators were using Discord to manage their communities alongside Patreon, our next move was obvious.

As our first of many steps toward this Patreon and gaming marriage, we are so excited to announce that starting today, Patreon and Discord have partnered up to give the gaming community a seamless experience on Patreon.

How excited are we? Super, super excited. Discord’s CMO Eros Resmini says it best: “We’re stoked. We hope to see happier fans with this integration which, ultimately, means a healthier wallet for the content creator trying to live their dream. It’s a win-win.”

What does this integration do, though?

Feeling like a n00b, wondering what this Discord integration means?

Creators on Patreon can now offer Discord perks to their patrons at different reward tiers, like special roles and access to exclusive chatrooms.

Why Creators on Patreon Love this Integration

“Discord is the next evolution of connecting with your supporters and fans no matter where they are from. The ability to interact via text, voice, announcements, organized special posts about events…the list goes ever on and on. It is a fantastic platform to share information, stay in touch and build content – together.” –FinalBossTV

“Enabling my patrons to chat with me directly via the Discord chat is an incredibly powerful tool for keeping me in contact with the people who matter the most to this project. But much more than that, it encourages patrons to communicate with each other. Allowing the bonds of our community to strengthen, even when I’m away somewhere on a shoot or fast asleep after a long day streaming.” –Danny O’Dwyer

“We used to require patrons to submit their email addresses to the mods to be manually assigned the correct access privileges. THANKFULLY Patreon’s Discord integration automatically handles all of that now, freeing us up to do more important things like refresh Reddit for the 178th time this hour.” –Mike B
