Preparations for the Minnesota State Fair underway at MSHS, which means that we are seeking volunteers to staff our booth in the Agriculture/Horticulture building at the state fair. MSHS exhibits at the state fair so that we can introduce visitors to the benefits of gardening and raise funds for the society.
MSHS volunteer helps out at the Potted Plant Show.
Almost 150 MSHS volunteers make this possible. Volunteers at the fair work four-hour shifts — morning, afternoon or evening. We are looking for volunteers to work in our educational booth, to sell memberships and merchandise and to work at the Potted Plant Show, which is held the first two days of the fair.
Volunteers get free entry to the fair, so many volunteers will work their shift and then enjoy the fair on their own. Volunteering at the state fair is a great way to learn more about MSHS and its work. Volunteers receive all the information they need in advance of volunteering and an MSHS staff member is always available to answer questions or assist volunteers.
Volunteering at the state fair is a great way to meet other gardeners while enjoying the Great Minnesota Get-Together.
To learn more or volunteer, contact Lara Lau-Schommer via email or by calling 651-643-3601.
Our No. 1 volunteer — Mr. Tomato Guy. He’s always near our booth.
