Coronation Street fans will be treated to the return of Adam Barlow next week.

Actor Sam Roberton, who plays the son of Ken’s late daughter Susan, previously appeared on the show in 2004 when he was 18.

However, he admitted that he had some pretty big doubts before returning to the show.

In a recent interview at a Corrie press event, the actor said that he felt the show was “going lacklustre” before the arrival of former Emmerdale producer Kate Oates.

“I thought Emmerdale was fantastic but I thought Corrie was a little lacklustre and I was a bit concerned about the direction it was going in. When I heard that Kate was coming in and it was going to be her editing, I was more inspired and excited about the prospect of coming back,” he said.

Sam confirmed he is now happy to return to the screen and predicted that there’s some exciting action ahead.

“To come back again, I wanted to have insurances that he would be more fully formed and more involved. And already that’s happened so it’s more exciting than it was last time.”

Coronation Street will air Adam’s return scenes on Wednesday November 16 on ITV.
