A Toronto Police Services project targeting Cannabis Culture dispensaries resulted in raids of seven Cannabis Culture locations in Toronto, Hamilton, and Vancouver today. Warrants were also executed at private residences in Toronto, Stoney Creek (near Hamilton) and Vancouver.

Seventeen charges have been filed against five people involved with the Cannabis Culture business. Toronto Police Services issued a statement this morning saying Project Gator was a project “targeting marijuana dispensaries.” It is unknown if other dispensaries will be targeted under Project Gator. According to TPS, the five arrested are scheduled to appear in court at Toronto’s Old City Hall on Friday, March 10, 2017, 10 a.m., room 103.

A raid was also conducted against Bank Street Cannabis Culture in Ottawa. Police say it was not part of Toronto Police’s Project Gator, just timed to coincide. According to Ottawa police, five people were also arrested and charged at the dispensary. All accused persons were released on a Promise to Appear.

Names are not being released at this time so as not to jeopardize the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Ottawa police say investigations related to illegal storefronts will continue. Seized items listed were marijuana, THC Oil, THC Shatter, hashish, CBD Oil, one Laptop, digital scales and $1850.00.

Tousaw Law, representing Cannabis Culture, released a statement calling the arrests the “latest salvo in Canada’s senseless war on cannabis and cannabis consumers is a moral outrage and has no place in a free and democratic society”.
