One amazing benefit to home education is an educator’s flexibility when planning lessons. If you suspect your child is a kinesthetic learner, you need to incorporate hands-on homeschooling activities into your math, science, spelling, reading, and geography curricula. Engage your student in hands-on lessons to assure they retain tricky concepts!

Hands-On Math Activities

Typical math lessons include worksheets and memorization, but these strategies don’t address the needs of all types of learners. Turn math lessons into hands-on homeschooling activities when you incorporate colorful stickers that can be used over and over!

Ages 3 to 5: Use the Numbers Stickers to practice counting, number recognition, and number patterns. Jumble up the number stickers on the page, then ask your little one to stick the numbers in order on the wall.* You can count and recognize the numbers together as your little one sticks each number to the wall.

* The reusable fabric stickers are mom-friendly! No mess, no tearing, and they’re easy to store.

Ages 6 to 8: Use the Money Stickers to introduce money value, coin recognition, coin value, and the concepts of saving money. Stick the dollars next to your little one’s piggy bank to recognize how much money they need to save for a treat.

Ages 9 to 12: Use the Fractions Stickers (shown above) to teach halves, wholes, and pieces of a whole in a visual way that’s easy to understand. Match each visual representation of fractions with the numeric value. For example, match half the sandwich with the fraction sticker, 1/2.

Hands-On Science Activities

There are so many ways to get hands-on when it comes to science lessons. Use stickers to teach scientific concepts like the human body, solar system, and chemistry. These reusable stickers last for years and are easy to store. Just grab your set of science stickers when it’s time to apply hands-on learning to your science lessons!

Ages 3 to 5: These human body reusable stickers (shown above) open the door to teach about the body’s five systems – the circulatory, digestive, muscular, nervous and skeletal systems. Ask your students to place the bones stickers on the parts of the body to build the skeletal system.

Ages 6 to 8: Learn the solar system while developing motor skills. Use the Solar System Stickers to map out the Milky Way on your dining room wall. Ask your kiddos to try and remember the correct order of the planets. Then, when they know the correct planet to choose next, prompt them to choose the correct sticker, either by visual recognition or by sounding out the name on the label.

Ages 9 to 12: Make your introduction to chemistry colorful and fun. This chemistry sticker set will save homeschoolers a ton of time! Instead of mapping out the periodic table on a sheet of paper (which is destined to get lost), use this Periodic Table Sticker Set to learn the elements. Put the Periodic Table together like a puzzle on the wall, table, or floor!

Hands-On Literacy Activities

Many educators depend on books and printable studies to teach literacy. Adding reusable stickers are an easy way to add a hands-on element to reading & writing practice. Kinesthetic learners will love touching the pieces and moving them around from place to place. Combine the stickers with verbal instruction to satisfy auditory learners as well.

Ages 3 to 5: When ABC practice is audible, visual, and hands-on, the lessons are more likely to stick with your student. Use the Letters Stickers (shown above) to practice letter recognition, upper case letters, lower case letters, and letter to word matching.

Ages 6 to 8: Take writing practice beyond a boring piece of paper. Practice spelling sight words on the wall! Stick the Letters Stickers on the wall to build 1st grade sight words like “about,” “each,” “if,” “old, “word,” and more.

Ages 9 to 12: Use the Shapes & Colors Stickers to develop Spanish literacy! Use the crayon stickers to practice saying and spelling the names of colors in English and Spanish.

Hands-On Geography Activities

Leave the atlas on your bookshelf and stick the Mona MELisa maps to your walls instead! We love the idea of turning geography lessons into a game. Play Simon Says with the U.S. Map to practice states, capitals, U.S. landmarks, and historical facts.

Ages 3 to 5: In these years, students will learn about land, air, and water. You can also use the U.S. Map Sticker Set to practice color recognition and motor skills. Ask your student to stick on the green state, or point to the ocean, mountains, big states, and small states.

Ages 6 to 8: Give your child an introduction to the United States map. They can begin to learn states, capitals, state facts, and how to navigate using directional terms with the U.S. Map Sticker Set. For example, ask your child to stick on all the coastal states south of Washington.

Ages 9 to 12: The U.S. Map Sticker Set will remain handy for geography lessons over the years. During these years, students learn states’ abbreviations, landmarks, historical facts about states, and regions of the United States. Ask your child to stick the abbreviations to each state, and place landmarks like Mount Rushmore on the map.
