The IQPC Enterprise Mobility Exchange wrapped up in Atlanta, Georgia last week, bringing in CIOs, IT specialists and enterprise mobility experts from all over the country.

The three-day event focused on arming organizations with mobility tools and strategies to improve IT successfulness. Topics covered included app development strategies, enhancing user experiences and increasing productivity with data, the benefits of enterprise mobility, and aligning IT and business strategies.

If you weren’t able to make it to Atlanta for this year’s event, here are a few buzzing topics you may have missed:

It’s All About How Organizations Are Using Mobile Solutions

A buzzing topic at this year’s Exchange was how the application of mobile solutions is changing businesses. If an organization cannot address the benefits they see from their mobile solution, including problems it is solving and if it is streamlining workflows, there is an issue. If the importance of your enterprise mobile app cannot be easily seen or cannot be explained to others in one to two sentences, it is not useful to the business.

Organizations are turning to mobile apps that do a few crucial tasks very well. When apps are convoluted and complex to work with, users often do not realize their full benefit and will not use them. Simple mobile apps that work effectively and do a few tasks extremely well, are more likely to drive efficiency and improve productivity for the business.

Tighter Collaboration Between IT and Operations is Crucial

A problem that many organization’s IT and operations teams face is that they often differ on how technology fits into their corporate strategy and budget. Operations teams usually want to invest in a tool or mobile solution that integrates with their current systems, works with their devices, meets their business goals, and improves productivity and efficiency. IT departments often see such investments as expensive, a threat to security, cumbersome to maintain, and difficult to integrate with current platforms and systems.

To come to an agreement on choosing a mobile solution that improves business processes and is secure and easy to maintain, a comprehensive mobile strategy is needed. Since IT teams are often slower to embrace new technologies due to potential risks, finding a common ground on investing in your next mobile solution is crucial. When operations chooses a mobile solution that ensures security and data encryption, it can bring IT and operations together to implement a tool that improves business processes.

Mobile Centers of Excellence Can Transform Your Organization

At this year’s Exchange, Mahesh Gupta, the General Manager of Enterprise Mobility at Delta Airlines discussed how a Mobile Center of Excellence (MCoE) enables the airline to achieve a mobile-first status. A Mobile Centers of Excellence offers a place for organizations to organize, manage, and distribute mobile enterprise initiatives and solutions. It may be broken down in to other divisions or groups that develop apps, create policies and security plans, and help implement new solutions.

When a Mobile Center of Excellence is successful in an organization, operations and IT teams can work together to respond to issues quickly, make changes to their mobile projects, and develop and deploy multiple apps that drive long-term efficiency for the organization. When successful, Mobile Centers of Excellence help their business realize their mobility goals and become leaders of mobile innovations.
