Bobby Simha gets hitched
Assault Sethu a.k.a Bobby Simha got married to the Kirumi-fame actress – Reshmi Menon – in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Tirupathi on 22nd April. Their reception was attended by popular celebrities, including Bobby Simha’s Bangalore Naatkal co-stars, Rana Daggubati and Arya.
Kamal Haasan as Balram Naidu, again!
Kamal Haasan revealed the details of his latest project, Sabash Naidu. The actor will be playing the role of Balram Naidu, the most memorable character who also appeared in the movie Dasavatharam. His daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara are also said to be a part of the project. While the former will appear as his on-screen daughter, the latter will work behind the camera. We can’t wait!
Vadivelu’s big comeback
One of the biggest hits in actor-comedian Vadivelu’s career is Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, which released in the year 2006. Now the producer of the film, Shankar and the director, Chimbu Devan have announced the sequel to the film. This project will also be bankrolled by Lyca Productions, who are also producing Shankar’s 2.0 starring Rajinikanth.
Vijay’s Theri hits screens
Tamil New Years’ day was special for film buffs as the much-awaited Vijay-starrer, Theri hit screens on this auspicious day. Directed by Atlee, the film has now allegedly joined the 100-crore club.
Alphonse Putharen hits back at the Kerala State Award Committee
Jury member, Mohan has announced that Premam wasn’t eligible for the Kerala State awards and accused the director of having a "lazy attitude" towards film-making. The director of the film, Alphonse Putharen, recently posted on his social media page that his film did not require any awards and that the approval of the audience was enough for him. The film was one of the highest-grossing Mollywood films of 2015, and had an exceptional run in Chennai as well.
Fahadh Faasil in Mohan Raja’s next
Popular Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil is also set to make his Kollywood debut in director Raja Mohan’s next. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara in lead roles. Raja Mohan‘s previous film, Thani Oruvan, was a blockbuster, and it is needless to say that the audience has high expectations from this one as well.
Chiranjeevi’s 150th film
Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi’s 150th film has been officially launched. The film is the Telugu remake of the Vijay-starrer Kaththi. It is expected to release on Sankranthi (Pongal), 2017. The film will be produced by his son, actor Ram Charan. The film is said to be directed by V.V. Vinayak, who previously worked with the actor in Tagore.
Nandamuri Balakrishna begins shoot for his 100th film
Popular Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has now begun working on his 100th film, Gautamiputra Satakarni. The launch of the film was attended by the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi and actor Venkatesh. The period drama is based on King Satakarni, who was known to be one of the greatest rulers of the Sathavahana Empire.
Southern Stars Shine at Natchathira Cricket
Artists of the South Indian film industry came together for the Lebara Natchathira (stars) Cricket League organised in Chennai by Nadigar Sangam/South Indian Artists Association (SIAA), for raising funds for construction of their building. The event was organised by the newly elected SIAA office bearers, including its President Nasser, General Secretary Vishal Reddy and Treasurer Karthi. The event was inaugurated by legends Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. It was attended by several actors of the south Indian film industry, including Vikram, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Mammootty, Nivin Pauly, Sudeep, and Shivakumar
Iru Mugan teaser goes viral
Directed by Anand Shankar, Iru Mugan stars Vikram, Nithya Menen and Nayanthara in lead roles. Touted to be a spy thriller, the teaser of the film went viral within hours after it went live. This is the first film where Vikram and Anand Shankar have teamed up.
