Bollywood is a tough and a scary place to be. At one moment, you are reigning the box office, delivering blockbuster after blockbuster, and the next thing you know, your last five movies have failed miserably. Bollywood is so unpredictable; there is no fixed formula for success, unless you star in a Salman Khan film (but be prepared for Bhai to get all the glory). A super hit movie can have a super flop sequel, and even an SRK-starrer can tank. But that does not stop millions of newcomers dreaming of making it big in Bollywood. Some have gone ahead to fulfill their dreams, while some could not handle the pressures of the industry. Others were simply one-hit wonders. Take a look at some of these newbies, who disappeared after their debut films.

Diana Penty

The model turned actress was seen in Homi Adajania‘s 2012 rom-com Cocktail, alongside Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. The movie was a commercial hit and the star trio shared amazing chemistry in the film. However, Penty was not seen on the screen again, until recently, where she was the lead actress in Happy Bhag Jayegi.

Vaani Kapoor

The actress is leading many headlines today, as she is all set to make her lead debut alongside Ranveer Singh in Aditya Chopra’s Befikre. But do you remember her in the 2013 rom-com Shuddh Desi Romance? The actress was highly praised for her performance and won many debut awards for it. Three years later, she’s back with a bang.

Gayatri Joshi

The actress made her film debut opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the 2004 drama film Swades. The movie received critical acclaim and Gayatri Joshi became the most promising newcomer of the year. But the actress never returned to the screen, preferring a quiet life instead.

Girish Kumar

The actor grabbed a lot of attention with his debut film Ramaiya Vastavaiya, where he starred opposite Shruti Haasan. His crazy antics and overwhelming energy showed signs of the next Ranveer Singh. However, the actor was not seen in another film, until the 2016 rom-com, Loveshhuda.

Armaan Jain

The Kapoor family spawn made his acting debut in the 2014 rom-com Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, produced by brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan. Like most Kapoor family debuts (Ranbir Kapoor’s Saawariya, Kareena Kapoor’s Refugee, and Karishma Kapoor’s Prem Qaidi), the movie was a box office fail and the young star was not seen on screen again.

Poonam Pandey

Poonam Pandey is generally in the news for several controversial reasons, although not many know that she had made her Bollywood debut with the 2013 film Nasha. The bold posters featuring the actress, which were used for film promotions, irked a number of political parties. While this did not deter the young model, she has not been seen in a Bollywood movie since.

Ram Charan

While Chiranjeevi’s son is a well-known actor in the South, he was not as lucky in Bollywood. His first and only Hindi movie cast him alongside actress Priyanka Chopra in the 2013 action-drama Zanjeer. The movie received mixed to negative reviews, but the Telugu version of the film did much better than the Bollywood one.
