2016-08-20

Since he made his debut in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding in 2001, Randeep Hooda has come a long way. With one impressive performance after the other, Hooda has cemented his place in the competitive world of Bollywood as one of the most versatile actors who can pull off some of the most off-beat roles. Be it playing the role of a gangster in D or a kidnapper in Highway, Hooda has constantly impressed the audiences and critics alike and can definitely be titled as one of the most underrated actors of Bollywood. However, this has been a particularly busy year for him with consecutive hits.

Let’s take a look at why 2016 has without doubt been Randeep Hooda’s year.

One Blockbuster After the Other

Hooda received rave reviews for his portrayal of the titular role in Sarbjit. The film was a huge hit. His next release, Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, also met with positive reviews. Apart from his impressive performances in these films, the actor had to go through intense physical training for his roles. He left everyone speechless after images of his Sarbjit avatar surfaced. The actor first gained weight for his role in Do Lafzon Ki Kahani and then shed 30kgs for his role in Sarbjit. A mean feat that was definitely worth it in the end as both the movies were box-office hits.

His Role in Sultan

Salman Khan’s highly anticipated Eid release, Sultan, smashed records at the box office this year. While Salman and Anushka played the lead roles, Randeep Hooda’s role as Fateh Singh, Khan’s trainer, did not go unnoticed. Despite sharing screen space with the ‘Sultan of Bollywood’, he impressed the audiences with his brief role and left them wanting for more.

Seeing Red

Undoubtedly, Laal Rang was another one of Hooda’s underrated films. While the film failed to create much of an impact at the box office, the actor’s riveting performance received immense critical acclaim.

His Upcoming Films

With already four releases this year, you may have thought you have seen the best of Hooda, but there is much more on the charts for this Jatt. He has Battle of Saragarhi lined up for release later this year, wherein he plays the role of military commander Havildar Ishar Singh. He also has the film Shooter in the pipeline.

We wish Randeep Hooda a very happy birthday and hope he continues to have one smashing year after the other.
