Jimmy Shergill is a guy who is hardly seen playing a lead role in Bollywood movies these days, but he is still loved like one of the stars. He has been in the industry for 20 years now (!) and he has come a long way as an actor. You can easily say that he got the craft right, with time. But no matter how good an actor he is and how impactful his smallest of onscreen appearances are, for the longest time, he hasn't got the girl he loved in any of his popular love triangle films. However, he has won many hearts!
So, as the actor turns 46 today, let's have a look at five of his most impactful supporting performances, which were loved as much or even more than the leads.
Tanu Weds Manu and Returns
Tanu Weds Manu might be known because of Kangana Ranaut's mischievous character and Madhavan's charm, but Jimmy as Raja Awasthi is the one who gets everyone's sympathy. Even in the second edition in which there were two Kanganas, Raja was the one who is recalled the most by the fans- the million-dollar dialogue being "Saale, original bhi wahi rakhe or duplicate bhi?".
A Wednesday
Don't we love the no-nonsense cop Arif Khan? The way he violates the binding laws only for good, and the fact that every goon pees in his pants just by looking at him makes our love for his character even stronger. He also received the Guild Award for Best Actor in a Supporting role for this one.
Bullet Raja
Even though the movie was about Raja and Rudra Tripathi (Jimmy Shergill) dies in the middle of the story, it was Rudra who took the bullet for his friend. He just knows how to melt hearts.
Munna Bhai M.B.B.S
There are so many lovable and meaningful characters in this movie, each with a message for a happier life. Jimmy played one the important supporting characters – Zaheer – a soon-to-die cancer patient who taught us to live each day as if it is your last. Also, that character is the reason we have a song called "Marne se pehle jeena seekh le". So, more love to him!
Happy Bhag Jayegi
Another movie in which his character, Daman Singh Bagga, loses his fiance to another guy. The film didn't do well on the box office but every review mentioned Jimmy as the best part of the movie. Specially because of the catchphrase "Card batwa diye the".
