2 Easy Cocktails You Can Make At Home By Our Friend Jack Kearney
(Cynar) Boulevardier
– 1oz bourbon
– 1oz campari
– 1oz Cynar (or sub sweet vermouth)
– Orange peel (for garnish)
Stir with ice for 30s; strain into a chilled glass. Squeeze the orange peel over the drink, pith towards you and rind towards the drink—you should see some oils sprinkle across the surface. Serve. (Cynar also makes a good substitute for sweet vermouth in a Manhattan, particularly if you like a slightly more bitter cocktail).
Whiskey Sour
– 2oz bourbon
– 3/4oz lemon juice
– 1/2oz simple syrup (to make: combine equal volumes sugar and water, mix until sugar melted…heating up the mixture in the microwave for 10-15 seconds can help speed up the process, but then chill before using)
– Orange peel, maraschino cherry (for garnish)
Shake with ice for 30s; strain into a glass filled with ice. Serve with cherry and peel.
