Castelli Brand
Castelli is an Italian cycling company that hails from Milan. Vittore Gianni, orginally a tailor, founded the company in 1876. Gianni has a history of providing jerseys for famous teams like AC Milan and Juventus. Cycling enthusiasts may well know Alfredo Binda, the world champion athlete for whom the first cycling-specific clothing was made by Castelli in 1910. The Castelli name came from a young man named Armando Castelli who bought the enterprise after working there for 4 years.
Throughout their history, Castelli has boasted a variety of famous clientele, including cycling legends Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali. Castelli was also responsible for introducing the first shorts made of Lycra material to the racing public. In addition, the first thermal clothing was worn by Francesco Moser in Paris. A company built on innovation, in 2010 they produced a special material that sheds water and allows the athlete to breath through difficult races.
