As a founding member of the internationally renowned band Great Big Sea, Séan enamoured audiences from Copenhagen to California. Today his mantra “Help Your Self” sees him breaking the silence on his past addiction and abuse and using Music as Medicine to positively change lives.
Drawn to Nature Exhibition | Friday, November 18 | 7 p.m. | Banff Public Library | Free
This community exhibition features work created by the past participants of Drawn to Nature Workshops, organized by Walter Phillips Gallery, with the support of Parks Canada, Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, and Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum. This free monthly class – where participants learned various observational sketching techniques in both drawing and painting – has seen over 200 participants of all ages and levels of experience. Join us at The Banff Public Library to celebrate the artists’ and their works.

The “Mysticssippi Blues Man” fuses eastern musical traditions with the blues, and switches effortlessly between conventional guitars, harmonica, and banjo and the decidedly different Mohan veena, a 20-stringed instrument invented by Manx’s Indian mentor, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.Harry will be joined by special guests The Emily Carr String Quartet.

Louise Lecavalier explores new territory in this contemporary dance solo and duet freely inspired by two Italo Calvino characters, the nonexistent knight and his squire. Avid for adventures and misadventures, the two antiheroes allow glimpses of their ideals and disillusionments to show in a mad, unclassifiable dance.

Kick off the festive season with “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, featuring a live soundtrack performed by the legendary jazz drummer Jerry Granelli and his trio alongside a local children’s choir. Expect stories, music, an iconic film, and Christmas spirit for all ages.
