Austin
Austin Country Club-nbsp;4408 Long Champ Drive, Membership Required. Founded in 1899, the Austin Country Club is one of the oldest and most exclusive golf clubs in Texas. It was home to legendary golf instructor Harvey Penick, and hosts the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play, a PGA Tour event. The 18 hole course designed by Pete Dye overlooks Lake Austin and the Pennybacker Bridge.
Avery Ranch Golf Club- 10500 Avery Club Drive, Public Course. Designed by Andy Raugust, a former Jack Nicklaus architect, this 18 hole course gives players a taste of the hill country in Northwest Austin. Picturesque fairways wind around plentiful trees and a 60 acre lake, and offer challenges for all skill levels.
Balcones Country Club- 8600 Balcones Club Drive, Membership Required. Tucked away in Northwest Austin, the Balcones Country Club is surrounded by mature oaks. Despite the tranquil setting, this 18 hole course tests the skills of all players.
Barton Creek Golf- 8212 Barton Club Drive, Membership or Resort Guest Status Required. Found in the hills of West Austin, the Barton Creek Resort and Country Club offers four distinct courses to choose from. Legends Tom Fazio and Arnold Palmer left their mark on the hill country with the Fazio Canyons and Fazio Foothills course, and the Palmer Lakeside course in Spicewood. The fourth course, Coore Crenshaw, also embraces the natural West Austin setting. Each 18 hole course features its own challenges to novices and seasoned golfers.
Bluebonnet Hill Golf Course- 9100 Decker Lane, Public Course. Bluebonnet Hill is a quiet course found near Walter E. Long Lake east of Austin. 328 Bermuda greens, plus a driving range and instructors on hand, make this course elegant and fun to play.
Grey Rock Golf Club- 7401 Highway 45, Public Course. Designed by Jay Morrish, Grey Rock is managed by the City of Austin and located in Southwest Austin. This course covers 160 acres with 18 holes. Stately oaks add beauty to the green, but also present a challenge to players.
Great Hills Country Club- 5914 Lost Horizon Drive, Membership Required. This championship course is a peaceful, private retreat in the hill country designed by PGA legend Don January and Billy Martindale. Natural hills and plentiful trees enhance the atmosphere and challenge of each fairway. The club also keeps instructors on hand for advice and guided practice.
Hancock Golf Course- 811 East 41st Street, Public Course. Hancock Golf Course was founded in 1899 as the original site of the Austin Country Club. At only 9 holes, this course is considered relatively short, but reflects the original fairways enjoyed by Austin golfers since its founding. Today, the course is managed by the City of Austin and offers affordable fees.
Harvey Penick Golf Campus- 5501 Ed Bluestein Boulevard, Public Course. Named for legendary Austin golfer and coach, this venue opened in 2005 and was quickly named one of the best practice courses in Austin. Golfers can also take advantage of the driving range and 3 hole short course. The campus even offers footgolf, an 18 hole combination of golf and soccer.
Roy Kizer Golf Course- 5400 Jimmy Clay Drive, Public Course. Established by the City of Austin, this public course covers 200 acres in Southeast Austin. The links style course winds around 35 acres of lakes and 22 acres of wetlands for beautiful views and frequent wildlife sightings. Like other city-maintained courses, fees here are among the most affordable in the area.
Lions Municipal Golf Course- 2901 Enfield Road, Public Course. Affectionately known as ldquo;Old Munirdquo;, this course one of the most beloved courses in Austin. It has been open to the public since 1934 and has hosted notable players like Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, and Ben Hogan. Lions Municipal has been designated within the Register of National Historic Places, and is a piece of serenity in the heart of bustling central Austin.
Lost Creek Country Club- 2612 Lost Creek Boulevard, Private Course. Lost Creek is one of the most popular courses in Austin. Located along Barton Creek in the hills of West Austin, the par-72 championship course winds through trees and embraces the natural topography.
Morris Williams Golf Course- 3851 Manor Road, Public Course.Located in East Austin, Morris Williams is another City of Austin-maintained course with affordable rates. Golfers can take in views of the Austin skyline as they play the fairways on this 18 hole course. Morris Williams was recently renovated to make it a fun, challenging course for all players.
Onion Creek Country Club- 2510 Onion Creek Parkway, Membership Required. Situated along Onion Creek, this club was established in 1974 by legends Jimmy Demaret and Jimmie Connolly. The designers embraced the arearsquo;s natural setting when creating the 18 hole course. The club is also a qualifying site for the U.S. Open.
River Place Country Club- 4207 River Place Boulevard, Membership Required. Redesigned in 1993, River Place has become a gem in the hill country. The 6,600 yard course is full of unique hazards and features like twisting creeks and secluded canyons.
Riverside Golf Course- 1020 Grove Boulevard, Public Course. Found in East Austin, Riverside is a historical course, where legends and Austinites Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw honed their skills under the tutelage of Harvey Penick. The challenging course is full of mature trees and meticulously maintained.
University of Texas Golf Club- 2200 University Club Drive, Membership Required. Located within the Steiner Ranch neighborhood, the University of Texas Golf Club offers spectacular hill country views. It covers 7,412 yards as a par-71 championship course and is home to the University of Texas golf teams.
Bee Cave
Spanish Oaks Golf Club- 13001 Spanish Oaks Club Drive, Membership Required. Designed by Bobby Weed, the Spanish Oaks Golf Club is one of the top-ranked courses in the state. The course was designed with the natural landscape in mind, and the rolling hills present an exciting test for players.
Cedar Park
Twin Creeks Country Club- 3201 Twin Creeks Club Drive, Membership Required. Spanning 195 acres of rolling hills and plentiful trees, Twin Creeks is known for its par-72, 18 hole Fred Couples Signature course. The clubrsquo;s two namesake creeks wind through the course and even challenge golfers on the 13th hole.
Georgetown
Berry Creek Country Club- 30500 Berry Creek Drive, Membership Required. This course covers 115 acres of the former Logan Ranch in Georgetown. The club opened in 1986 and has hosted several well-known golfers, including Tom Kite. Fairways here wind through the stately homes within the Berry Creek neighborhood.
Cimarron Hills Country Club- 200 Cimarron Hills Trail West, Membership Required. Cimarron Hills boasts a 7,302 yard course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course flows with the mild rolling hills and respects the natural trees and creeks to provide beautiful surroundings and enticing challenges.
Georgetown Country Club- 1500 Country Club Road, Membership Required. Established in 1927, you can feel the history on the manicured fairways at the Georgetown Country Club. This course measures at just 5,300 yards and is secluded by mature oaks and the Middle San Gabriel River.
Golf at Sun City- Sun City community in Georgetown, Public Courses. Golfers can choose from three signature courses to play in Sun City- Cowan Creek, Legacy Hills, and White Wing. Together, these courses cover 315 acres and fit into the natural landscape as though they have always been there. Despite their similarities, each course presents its own unique challenges.
Hutto
Golf Club at Star Ranch- 2500 FM 685, Public Course. Tucked away on the edges of Round Rock, the course at Star Ranch offers an enjoyable experience for players at all levels. Gently rolling fairways and long views toward the Dell Diamond highlight this course.
Kyle
Plum Creek Golf Course- 4301 Benner, Public Course. Situated on over 200 acres, the design of the Plum Creek fairways give players the peaceful sense of being the only people on the course. This par-71 course offers views for miles and a challenging layout.
Lakeway
Falconhead Golf Club- 15201 Falconhead Boulevard, Public Course. Open since 2003, Falconhead was designed by PGA Tour Design architects and embraces the hill country landscape. The course winds through the Falconhead neighborhood for a unique playing experience.
Hills of Lakeway Golf- 26 Club Estates Parkway, Membership Required. This country club organization features four courses- Yaupon, Live Oak, The Hills Signature, and Flintrock Falls. Each one is a par-72 course and were designed by Jack Nicklaus and Leon Howard. Together, these courses offer some of the best golf in the Austin area.
Leander
Crystal Falls Golf Club- 3400 Crystal Falls, Public Course. Found on the edge of the Leander hill country, this course boasts a peaceful atmosphere with scenic views. Although this is one of the shorter courses at 6,654 yards, golfers at all levels still enjoy a great game.
Pflugerville
Blackhawk Golf Club- 2714 Kelly Lane, Public Course. At 7,200 yards, players at Blackhawk can have both a challenging and enjoyable round. The course opened in 1990 and was designed by Charles Howard and Hollis Stacey.
Round Rock
Forest Creek Golf Club- 99 Twin Ridge Parkway, Public Course. This par-72 course was dubbed the ldquo;Best Public Course in Central Texasrdquo; by Golf Digest. Tucked away among a forest of mature trees, the serene atmosphere makes for a great round.
Teravista Golf Club- 4333 Teravista Club Drive, Public Course. Found within the desirable Teravista neighborhood, this golf course offers a 7,200 yard layout. The course was recently recognized as ldquo;beginner friendlyrdquo; but provides a great game for golfers of all levels.
Spicewood
Lakecliff Golf Club- 1700 Kahala Sunset Drive, Membership Required. Tucked away deep in the hill country, Lakecliff offers a peaceful escape. The par-71 course designed by Arnold Palmer never requires tee times for its members, allowing you to play whenever the urge hits.
Pedernales Golf Club- 807 Paisley Drive, Public Course. Also known as Willie Nelsonrsquo;s Cut-n-Putt, this unique 9 hole course plays by its own rules. The family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a fun afternoon of golf adjacent to Willie Nelsonrsquo;s recording studio.
