We are thrilled to add another award to our arsenal! At the Design Leadership Conference in Boston earlier this week, the Design Management Institute recognized our work on the revolutionary football helmet VICIS ZERO1 with a Design Value Award. The Design Value Awards honor organizations that have delivered significant impact and change through design. This year’s winners include renowned names like Phillips, KP Innovations and SAP.

This is the third honor for Artefact and VICIS for ZERO1, which won a top International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designers Society of America and was also named a finalist in Fast Company’s Innovation by Design awards.

Spun out of the University of Washington’s CoMotion incubation lab, VICIS was named the final winner in the Head Health Challenge II, a collaboration among the NFL, Under Armor, and GE to identify and fund innovations that improve head health for athletes, members of the military and society at-large. Since unveiling the design earlier in the year, VICIS has secured over $18M in funding.

In its award announcement, the DMI stated: “The financial gains, social impacts, environmental effects, and positive results on organizational culture will inspire you, challenge you, and most certainly make you proud to be part of an industry that is a powerful agent of change.” We cannot agree more!
