**Synopsis of Role:**

The Senior Manager, Financial Aid Advising, will provide managerial support to the various financial aid advising teams and processes through leadership, creative problem solving, and solution development\. The processes include handling phone calls, emails, outbound campaigns and various escalations related to receipt, processing, and refunding of various types of funding for students\.

**Essential Functions:**

+ Leads, plans, and provides support to the financial aid advising staff and processes\.
+ Directly supervises financial aid advising managers and training team\.
+ Ensures teams are meeting daily, weekly and monthly goals\.
+ Collaborates with all finance teams to ensure up to date information on all processes that impact students\.
+ Works with systems support teams to resolve failures and manage service requests in system processing that directly or indirectly affect customer service processes\.
+ Provides feedback to associate vice president, financial aid advising on staffing needs and department structure and finds innovative ways to continue to improve efficiency, reporting and product delivery\.
+ Collaborates with student facing management teams to share feedback and discuss trends related to student experiences\.
+ Works closely with the department managers on training, mentoring and professional development programs to ensure employee engagement and success\.
+ Works with management team to develop and maintain department training and reference materials\.
+ Stays abreast of regulatory changes within financial aid as it impacts the financial aid advising team and students\.
+ Interacts with American Public University System \(APUS\) staff and various teams, at all levels as required, to meet strategic objectives\.
+ Works with internal and external auditors as needed\.
+ Performs other duties as assigned\. **Work Environment and Physical Demands:**
+ Standard office environment in Charles Town, WV\.
+ Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends\.

**Required Skills**

+ Ability to interact with students and APUS staff in a positive and professional manner\.
+ Knowledge of general accounting rules and financial aid regulations\.
+ Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures\.
+ Ability to lead and mentor a management team\.
+ Ability to look at financial aid advising needs comprehensively while taking into account APUS as a whole\.
+ Ability to solve problems in an ever changing environment\.
+ Advanced skills with microsoft office suite\.
+ Excellent attention to detail\.
+ Ability to work as a team player with a positive attitude\. **Required Experience:**

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required\. Master’s degree preferred\.
+ Minimum of three years relevant work experience\.
+ Minimum of two years management experience\.

+ Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills\.
+ Experience with windows based applications \(specifically excel\)\.
