Everyone wants the perfect wedding invitation design to fit their wedding style but did you know the wording is just as important as the design in setting the mood for your event? Here are four different ways to word your wedding invitations based on different wedding styles.

Traditional

Traditional wedding invitation wording is to the point and elegantly written. All words are spelled out except perhaps for the venue’s address. We chose a wording example featuring the bride’s parents as the hosts of the wedding since that reflects a traditional wedding.

Joseph and Angela Carlson
invite you to share in the joy
of the marriage uniting their daughter
Marie Annabel
and
Oscar Jayden Erickson
on Saturday the fifteenth of September
two thousand eighteen
one o’clock in the afternoon
3 West Club
3 West 51st Street
New York, New York

Modern

Modern wedding invitation wording can be a little more lighthearted, a little more casual. Mostly it tends to be pretty minimal. We chose an example featuring the couple as the hosts since so many of today’s couples are financially responsible for their own weddings.

Soon to be Mr. & Mrs.
Marie Annabel
Carlson
&
Oscar Jayden Erickson
invite you to share in the joy
as they exchange marriage vows
on Saturday the fifteenth of September
two thousand eighteen
one o’clock in the afternoon
3 West Club
3 West 51st Street

New York, New York

Religious

Religious wedding invitation wording tends to be formal with references to the couple’s spiritual beliefs whatever they may be. We chose a Christian-inspired verse as an example for this style of wording.

Their lives have been blessed
by their love for each other
and by their faith in the Lord
Marie Annabel
Carlson
and
Oscar Jayden Erickson
together with their parents
invite you to witness the vows
that will join them as one
on Saturday the fifteenth of September
two thousand eighteen
one o’clock in the afternoon
3 West Club
3 West 51st Street

New York, New York

Offbeat

Offbeat wedding invitation wording is whatever you want it to be! The only rule is to showcase your personalities as much as possible. We especially love the “cat parents” mention in this wording example.

They have been scrabble opponents and biking buddies,
cat parents and business partners,
but most of all they have been best friends.
please join the happy couple
Marie Annabel
and
Oscar Jayden Erickson
as they come together in marriage
on Friday, September 14
5:30 p.m.
at 3 West Club
3 West 51st Street
New York, New York
