It was indeed a moment of sorrow when Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia approached the podium to read tribute to the late Kwabena Boadu who until his demise was an aide to the second gentleman of the land.

Dr. Bawumia recounted how he was shocked to hear news of the demise of his aide and how he struggled to pen down a tribute as it was hard to accept that the “quiet, unassuming and shy” Boadu was no more.

The Vice President however could not end his speech in the manner he started as he broke into tears and ‘struggled’ to read the last two sentences, “Kwabena Boadu, I miss you, and you will forever remain in my heart; Kwabena, rest in peace until we meet again.”

Family, friends, executives and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as sympathisers who had come together in grief were hit by the situation as tears dropped down.

Dr. Bawumia described Kwabena Boadu as one who was relentless in his efforts.

“Kwabena was not only my Press Aide; he became my friend, political advisor, strategist, speechwriter, confidant and young brother. He did so much but always shunned the limelight… Kwabena was a major part of the NPP and President Nana Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2016 election,” he said.
