Vanderbilt University, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is seeking candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position commencing Fall 2014. An appointment at the assistant professor level is anticipated but higher ranks may be considered for truly outstanding candidates. The successful candidate will have research expertise in environmental impacts associated with energy infrastructure, or, environmental or natural resources sustainability/security with a foundation in environmental engineering, risk sciences, or closely related field. The successful candidate also will be qualified to teach undergraduate courses in civil and environmental engineering and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise. Synergy with the departmental (http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/cee/Research/index.php) and school (http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/research/StrategicResearchAreas.php) research thrust areas is essential. The successful candidate will carry out high-impact independent research and collaborate effectively with researchers within and beyond the department. Successful candidates are also expected to develop an externally funded, nationally recognized research program and have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching responsibilities will include core civil and/or environmental engineering courses, as well as advanced courses in his or her area of specialization. Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. A P.E. registration is desirable.
