The Urban Studies Program at the University of Washington, Tacoma (UWT) invites applications for a full-time, tenured professor and Director of Urban Studies to begin July 1, 2013. The program seeks an exceptional scholar, teacher, and administrator in the field of Urban Studies. A Ph.D. is required in Urban Studies or related field, although disciplinary and research specializations are open. Applicants must be qualified for appointment at the rank of full professor.
The Director will serve as the academic and administrative head of the Urban Studies Program, one of seven degree-granting academic units currently at UWT. While the faculty members have diverse research interests and disciplinary backgrounds, they share a common commitment to local and global social justice and community engagement. The Urban Studies Program is a high functioning academic unit with a strong culture of collaboration and consensus-based decision-making.
