SFU’s School of Communication is seeking applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Global Communication. The successful candidate will complement and innovate upon the School’s 40-year tradition of critical communication studies.

Applicants should provide evidence of a coherent research and teaching program related to global communication which may include but is not limited to: communication and the global south, with interest in North Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and others; geopolitics of international communication rights, social justice, and global public movements; cross-border flows, refugees, migration and diasporic communication; global communication governance;
anti-colonial and anti-racist epistemologies and methodologies.

Candidates must have completed their PhD in communication or relevant fields. Facility with
languages and experience with organizing and/or teaching in field schools, and understanding inter-cultural pedagogy among an ethno-culturally diverse student population is desired.
