Full-Time Faculty Position(s)
Koç University, Department of Media and Visual Arts (MAVA) invites
applications for full-time faculty positions of any rank (beginning
September 2017). Areas of specialization are open, but candidates
specializing in the following areas are particularly encouraged to
apply:

Industrial Design or Interaction Design. Applicants are expected
to have a PhD in either design, engineering, or social sciences; a
record of demonstrated research accomplishments. The successful
candidate will also be affiliated with the Koç University –
Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries (KUAR).

Contemporary Art. The ideal applicant for this position is well
grounded in recent theories of contemporary art and might have
practical experience in programming, designing and curating
exhibitions for diverse spaces including galleries and museums.
The successful candidate might also teach courses in the
Department of Archeology and History of Art (ARHA).
Successful candidates will be expected to teach two courses per
semester and is expected to have an active research agenda. At the
time of employment, candidates should have a PhD. We especially
encourage applications from candidates whose research agenda is
interdisciplinary. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and
experience.

MAVA at Koç University offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that
emphasizes communications theory, media/arts management, and
production. Students enrolled at the Department of Media and Visual
Arts were ranked at or above the 99th percentile of the Central
University Placement Exams in Turkey.
Founded jointly by Koç University and Arçelik A.Ş. (www.arcelikas.com)
in 2015, KUAR aims to add value, via research, that increases the
efficiency and international competitiveness of Turkish creative
industries. A wide range of topics such as lifestyle, entertainment
(game, performance, movies, drama, animation), cultural heritage
(exhibitions, heritage, analysis), info-assistance, transportation,
education, healthcare lie within the scope of research conducted at
KUAR where research and development on
conceptual/experimental/visionary prototypes, working prototypes,
re-design prototypes of products, design guidelines is undertaken.
