Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in public relations, communication, journalism, business, or a related field.
Professional experience and expertise in the field of public relations.
Experience in the use of online, digital, mobile, and/or social media in public relations and marketing communications.
Teaching experience at college level or evidence of strong potential for effective teaching.
Potential for development of research, scholarly and creative activities.
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in a related field.
Professional managerial experience in the public relations profession.
Demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in teaching college-level public relations courses.
Demonstrated ability to teach journalism and mass communication courses, such as introduction to mass communication, ethics, newswriting, and online media.
Experience working with minority ethnic communities.
Experience working on public relations programs and communications campaigns directed toward diverse audiences.

Duties

Teach a wide variety of public relations courses, including principles of public relations, public relations writing, digital public relations, public relations campaigns, and public relations case studies.
Engage in ongoing research, scholarly and creative activities.
Advise the chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community.
Develop a professional network of alumni and public relations contacts.

Letter of application addressing the minimum and desired/preferred qualifications

Copy of transcript from institution awarding highest degree
Finalists will also be required to submit a signed SC-1 form, three current letters of recommendation (if not already submitted), and an official transcript.
