So getting up to chapter twenty-two this Friday morning, finishing all the letter “L” albums and making a start on letter “M” ones today! I’ve/you’ve music by Tame Impala, Little Ugly Girls, Tropical Fuck Storm, The Loved Ones and The Birthday Party if you wanna have listen to them?

Lonerism by Tame Impala (2012)

The most well known Perth, W.A. band of all-time, everyone knows this one right? Their second studio album is my own fave of the four full length albums they’ve, if you wanna know? At the 2013 ARIA Awards Lonerism did win Best Rock Album and Album of the Year, I think that’s only third time that’s happened or any album winning at that dumb-asse award show I’ve included in these posts. While at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards it was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album but lost at that dumb-asse award show. I don’t know why? I have to taken notes of this because as you can tell, I think these award shows are pretty dumb-asse. Wasted my time typing about that and ain’t talking about how great this album is! Only had a couple of promo videos so I’ve picked Feels Like We Only Go Backwards:

Apocalypse Dreams is my own fave track:

Self-Titled by Little Ugly Girls (2018)

Legendary Australian punk band Little Ugly Girls formed in Hobart, Tasmania in the very early 90s but have never released a record until 2018. This self-titled album is officially their debut album, and features recordings spanning more than 20 years. I think, that’s the longest time to release an album of all my selected albums in these posts, some didn’t think it was ever going to happened and somehow I got to see the album launch in Melbourne, finally getting to see them live! Live footage at The Tote video clip was put out as promo with the song called Jimmeh:

Tractor is one of the oldest songs and is my fave track:

A Laughing Death In Meatspace by Tropical Fuck Storm (2018)

Disqualifying the “A” just like any “The” at the start of album titles so it’s TFS debut album but it’s the main-man Gareth Liddiard’s eighth album overall, that’s counting six The Drones albums plus his one and only solo album at this point. Kind-of album I wanted him to do for years with The Drones but never did until forming a whole new band. The blokes of The Drones replaced with women and this band is most likely more popular, this album even getting to peak position on the AIRA Australian album charts at number 25. For just this album they made more video clips than The Drones ever did in their whole lifespan and I’m picking closing track Rubber Bullies promo to embedding here:

Two Afternoons is my fave song:

Magic Box by The Loved Ones (1967)

So the 60’s is the decade with less albums in my 200 Aussie albums tally, you know? Anyway this is the one and only studio album The Loved Ones ever released, was following an EP and some singles and then after breaking up after this album but reformed in 80’s and a live album was put out in then. INXS covered the song The Loved One in the 80’s then Nick Cave and Die Haut, a Germany band covered Sad Dark Eyes in the 90’s. Listed in book 100 Best Australian Albums at number 80, in magazine Aussie Rolling Stone 200 Greatest Australian Albums at number 68. Black & White video clip was made for the track entitled The Loved One:

Off course Sad Dark Eyes is the song I like the best:

Mutiny / The Bad Seed by The Birthday Party (1989)

Easy my favorite The Birthday Party, these was originally a couple of EPs for 82 and 83 which was then released as a compilation in 1989. This was recorded as the band was totally falling apart or to quote Cave “the group in utter collapse”, by this stage drummer Phill Calvert had already been kicked out and in-between the two recording sessions Mick Harvey had quit on tour but rejoined for recording sessions and Rowland S. Howard walked out those final sessions, afterwards Nick asking Blixa Bargeld to play guitar on Mutiny In Heaven. Amazing anything was done at all, let alone recorded and then released. The closes to promo/official video clip is Deep In The Woods performing live which was filmed at Sydney Trade Union Club in 1982 on their final Aussie tour:

off course Mutiny in Heaven is my fave track:

That’s twenty-two done and dusted! So ask again, which is the album you enjoyed the best?

Cheers!
