Secondary Care Doctor - Lay Member Circa £17600 p.a., 1 session a week on average Fixed Term Contract - until 31 March 2019

Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced secondary care clinician to join the Governing Body and bring specific expertise and experience to the work of the CCG.

Clinical leadership is at the heart of the CCG and the Secondary Care Doctor will ensure that external medical perspectives and an understanding of the secondary care setting are brought to the CCG's approach to commissioning.

The Secondary Care Doctor plays a key role on the Governing Body bringing a broader view, on health and care issues to underpin the work of the CCG. In particular, the role will bring to the Governing Body an understanding of patient care in the secondary care setting and inform discussions about service re-design clinical pathways and system reform. The post holder will have broad professional networks, an understanding of whole system working and a track record of making a positive impact and the successful applicant will need to have extensive current or recent experience as a secondary care doctor and in a wider leadership capacity.

In order to avoid conflicts of interest, and in accordance with legislation, applications will only be considered from individuals who do not have their main clinical practice or working in an organisation providing clinical services in the Blackburn with Darwen or Burnley area. However, if you are retired your application would be considered.

The role will be on a part time basis averaging 2 days a month per annum.
