Care & Support Worker – Role Overview and ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to be part of a vibrant community, supporting people over 55 who are living with a dementia, within Dorothy Terry House. You will support individuals to enhance and develop life skills. Person centred activity is at the heart of the service, providing creativity and wellbeing to improve people’s lives.Essentials* Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen sensitively to others.* Good written communication skills, with an ability to contribute to a record keeping system.* Good interpersonal skills.* Ability to work as part of a team.* Ability to provide empathetic, emotional and practical support to service users.* A common sense approach to problem solving and an ability to deal with conflict and distress.* Ability to work without direct supervision and if needed in people’s own home.* Ability to liaise in a professional manner with other agencies.* Understanding of Equal Opportunities policies adopted by Heritage Care.* Ability (or willingness to learn) to use online systems for care and support delivery and training.* Willing to complete the Care Certificate* Willing to undertake and attain a QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care* Able to work flexibly across all shifts to meet the needs of the people we support, ensuring that the service has 24 hour staff cover, 365 days of the year* Demonstrate the following attributes* Sensitive – Kind – Spontaneous – Considerate – Compassionate* Empathetic – Good listener – Sense of fun – Tactful – Approachable - Organised – Patient – Punctual – Reliable* Capable of working in a position that requires manual handling tasks as a core requirement.Desirables* A basic understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults.* QFC Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care.* Experience of providing care, support or other services to adults with support needs.* Experience of working with older people.* Experience of working with people with learning disabilities.* Experience of working with and relating to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.Disclosure Level - EnhancedThe Next Step & How to Apply...To ensure regulatory compliance all applicants must be aged 18 years or over.To join the Heritage Care team, the next step is to apply online now.
