The approach adopted throughout the business is to encourage and support every employee in achieving their career aspirations.Mick George’s rapidly expanding planning team are now seeking an enthusiastic Ecologist to join us at our Head Office in Huntingdon.The permanent role is an exciting opportunity to assist with various projects across sites in East Anglia and East Midlands. About the Role• Assisting in design of quarry restoration schemes which are biodiversity led.• Overseeing management protocols for restoration schemes. • Undertaking Phase I and Protected Species surveys.• Dealing with all aspects of European Protected Species Licences. • Supervising the translocation of species as required.• Management of newly created habitats.• Providing general ecological advice to the company.• Keeping up-to-date with Government guidance and other statutory advice.• Knowledge of Country Biodiversity Action Plans and priority habitats.• Liaising with statutory bodies such as the Wildlife Trust and Natural England. Key Skills and Experience• Excellent understanding of UK wildlife legislation and relevant planning policy.• Great communication skills.• Good telephone manner.• Attention to detail. • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload.• Ability to work to tight deadlines give the fast paced environment.• Full UK driving licence. • A degree with a strong ecological focus is essential. • Experience in reporting. • At least one license for surveying protected species.• IT Literacy (MS Office) Mick George Ltd (MGL) is committed to providing equality of opportunity for all.
