Red Stick Roux Rally returns downtown this weekend

From gumbo to live music, there is much to enjoy at one of Baton Rouge’s largest gumbo cook-offs.

The event, held downtown, will take place Saturday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Roux Rally guests can listen to live music by artists such as Flow Tribe, purchase alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages and eat endless bowls of gumbo made onsite by more than 40 cook-off teams.

Admission is $10 at the door, with all proceeds donated to Youth Oasis, a local children’s homeless shelter.

The Baton Rouge Fashion Council to hold Galentine’s Party Friday

This Friday, The Baton Rouge Fashion Council is throwing a Valentine’s Day themed party just for the ladies.

The Galentine’s Day party, Feb. 3, 5-8 p.m., will be held at Blend Wine Bar at 304 Laurel St.

Join Baton Rouge Fashion Council for drink specials, shopping, desserts, free hair styling by Drybar and giveaways.

Red Stick Spice Company offers tea talk and tasting this weekend

Want to learn more about tea? The Red Stick Spice Company will be offering Tea 101, an informative discussion and tasting of teas this Saturday.

At Tea 101, students will learn about the different types of tea, how it’s blended and steeped and how to make the perfect cup of tea.

The class will take place Saturday, Feb. 4, noon-2 p.m., at the Red Stick Spice Company on 660 Jefferson Highway.

The Melting Pot provides Super Bowl alternative

Super Bowl Sunday isn’t just about football at The Melting Pot.

Sunday, Feb. 5, The Melting Pot at 5295 Corporate Blvd. will be hosting Super Fondue Sunday.

At the event, customers can purchase the Land & Sea four-course entree for $25 along with happy hour drink prices all day.

La Davina Italian Cafe to host Valentine storytime Sunday brunch

Get in the spirit of Valentine’s Day early at La Davina Italian Cafe.

This Sunday, Feb. 5, 8-10:45 a.m., La Davina Italian Cafe at 3535 Perkins Road, Suite 360, will offer children’s storytime and coloring, a special Sunday brunch featuring Strawberry Sorbetto Mimosas and children’s brunch options.

The event will take place twice, at 8 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., with 24 seats available per event.

Tickets for the event are $5 and can be purchased on Eventbrite. Meals are sold separately.
