Hello dear friends!  I hope you had a great weekend – besides some shopping on Saturday I also visited a couple of estate sales on Friday. I’ve been thinking about our living room lately and how it’s time for a change. I would like to switch the coffee table to a larger size, round or square and dark.  With that in mind, I’ve been looking on Craigslist for a traditional coffee or side table in dark wood with a little flair, like caning or bamboo.  Following are three images I found on Pinterest.

After some fun inspiration on Pinterest I set out to go look and see what the estate sales had to offer. Oh, in fact the picture of  the teal table reminded me so much of a table we used to own in the late 70′s, our’s wasn’t painted though. Okay, here is my latest find that followed me home from the sale:

Nice appearance, all wood and the caning was still in tact.  It also has a glass insert which I removed and cleaned.  The table was cleaned with Murphy Oil Soap and Wood Stain was used to touch up small scratches at the bottom of the table legs.

After all of the cleaning and touch-up I brought her inside and placed her next to the sofa.  I changed out the small round table that was there, it has a different spot in the house.

I like the detail and texture of the cane and the simple lines of the table.

Maybe I should have painted the table a totally “cool” color,  but we’re pretty traditional around here…so it will stay as is. But I’m thinking about painting or replacing the lamp. Hmmm…  The table was a good deal, I’m so glad I went back to the sale a second time and got the table for half price.  It is a nice size and I think we’ll enjoy it for a long time.   Now I’m on a mission to find a coffee table, wish me luck.  It may take a while though.

Thanks for stopping by y’all !
