The El Dorado Hills Friends of the Library took approximately 250 guests on a cause-worthy adventure at their event “Night at the Library,” a fundraiser to purchase books and e-readers for adult library patrons. Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of El Dorado Hills, the evening featured appetizers from a dozen local eateries, wines from six area wineries, and live music. Hits performed ranged from the music of Island of Black and White and The Jazz Report, to harpist Alaina Rose, violinist Lindsey Draper, and guitarists Grant Pustelnik and Adam Miller. Guests interacted with favorite costumed literary characters, among them the Red Queen (the library’s very own head librarian, Carolyn Brooks). Friends of the Library actively volunteer and raise funds to support the library through a variety of activities such as used book sales. In addition to food and entertainment, a silent auction and drawing coordinated by Nancy McMahon featured attractive offerings such as an antique dollhouse, sport event tickets, and dinner with the El Dorado Hills Firemen. Donated works of art were also showcased for purchase by area artists Sandy Allie, Lynn Anderson, Joey Cattone, Paul Cockrell, Crista Dixon, and Varya McMillan. Proceeds from ticket sales and auction items totaled close to $11,000.
