In commemoration of Porsche 911s 50th Anniversary – a total of 1208 911s paraded around the signature Silverstone Circuit to create a new record! The project was spearheaded by Porsche Club Great Britain, with an initial plan of bringing together nine-hundred-and-eleven Porsche 911s, but the number immediately shoot passed its target within a few days after it was initiated.
Over the weekend, over 1200 911s made their way to Silverstone and prepared themselves to go around the circuit. The dazzling spectacle was led by a number of famous Porsche personalities to make the event more special. Mark Porsche, son to the great Ferdinand Porsche was also there, leading the parade. Other significant appearance at the event was Derek Bell, 5 times Le Mans winner and former F1 driver and Richard Attwood; Le Mans 24 hours winner in 1970.
Silverstone has seen many amazing automotive cults, making their way to achieve different world records. And now in addition to that list; the Porsche 911. Almost every form of the 911 was there to celebrate – even the classic 2.7 and 3.0 RS, and the race-spec RSR. Of course, modern ones were also there to achieve the 1200 mark.

Its a beautiful sight to behold, and although we in Malaysia has celebrated the 911 birthday a couple of months back, this one in Silverstone has got to be the most significant. Happy birthday again 911!! and to even more years to come.
