As we loom closer to the awaited Achilles Formula Drift Malaysia 2013, the top guns from nine different countries had set foot in Malaysia for the highly anticipated professional drift championship in the region. Also being its fifth year running, the second leg of the Achilles Formula Drift Asia 2013 will take place none other than SpeedCity KL this Sunday, 1st September.
Other than the 2012 Formula Drift Asia champion Daigo Saito, the line-up is also joined by pro drifters like Robbie Nishida from Japan, Oat Nattawoot from Thailand, and local stars like Mervyn Nakamura and Tengku Djan Ley. This round also has its own surprises as local motorsport fans will get the chance to catch international drifters making their debut in Malaysia such as Ken Gushi from USA, Masao Suenaga from Japan, Fredric Aasbo from Norway, and Rob Whyte from Australia.
“This year’s Malaysian leg is bound to leave audiences at the edge of their seats as we have top drivers from across the globe gathered at Speedcity KL, where the competition is guaranteed to be intense and fiercely contested”, said Pieter Tanuri, President Director of PT Multistrada Arah Sarana, Tbk.
While Daigo Saito is set to defend his title and determined to maintain his lead in order to be crowned as the champion for three consecutive years, Tengky Djan is also in his top form and is more than ready to go all out in SpeedCity.
“It’s always good to be on the track here at home as I’m in my element. I have been looking forward to the upcoming Achilles Formula Drift Malaysia 2013 for some time now as I’m eager to put some pressure on Daigo and to make the series championship a real battle of the ages.”
Local motorsport fans are in for a treat at this year’s Achilles Formula Drift Malaysia as other than the live performance by the famous rock band Kotak from Indonesia hyping up the atmosphere, bonus segments called the “Team Drift” and “Triple Threat” are also lined up for a breath of fresh air into the competition.
The Achilles Formula Drift Malaysia 2013 will be broadcasted live on STAR Sports on Sunday, 1st September from 3.30pm – 5.30pm (local time). Tickets are still available at ticketpro.com.my and will also be sold at SpeedCity’s main entrance on the race day itself.
